There are so many conversations in your life that:
…you need to have but have not had?1

…you have had, but wish you hadn’t because they did not turn out the way you wanted them to?

We all have challenging conversations that we need to have with our bosses, clients, colleagues, friends, partners, children or parents. These conversations are complex because they are emotional; also, we may have previously struggled to resolve the same issues and feel that we are recycling the same conversation over and over again.

These challenging and complex conversations are critical to our well-being because they affect our lives, the connection that we have with the people we love and the future of our careers or our businesses.

However, we often put off these conversations because we think that by having them we may lose or damage the relationship with the other person.

There are also many, many conversations that don’t go the way we want them to. In fact, sometimes we regret having the conversation in the first place.

Because of the many unsuccessful conversations that we often experience, we start to avoid the conversations we really need to have. As a result, our lives, our careers and our businesses do not live up to their full potential.
